The world-renowned Kanaka Durga temple has become synonyms with Vijayawada. Due to the rapidly increasing number of devotees and nearby transportation facilities, traffic congestion was a common sight at the bottleneck of Indrakeeladri Hill. Traffic congestions on the National Highway beyond Bhavanipuram was a common sight. The travel times would often be unimaginably high during festivals and public occasions. Kesineni Nani kickstarted the Kanaka Durga Flyover project in 2015 to bring ease of travelling and transportation for the people of Vijayawada.
Vijayawada has witnessed rapid growth in recent years and is now part of the Greater Capital Area of Amaravati. With local and international organisations in talks with the state government to work collaboratively in building the capital area, the Gannavaram airport in Vijayawada has become a hub. As a part of the development plan, Kesineni Nani has pushed for the expansion of the airport area and the addition of an extra terminal to better manage air traffic. The Gannavaram Airport has now gained the capacity to handle up to 50 lakh passengers per year in the near future and has also been classified as an International Airport with regular flights to destinations such as Singapore. The number and frequency of flights between Vijayawada and major Indian cities has also increased significantly. This development brings Vijayawada closer to global business and trade affairs, holding great promise for the future.
The age old process of farming has upheld our country for centuries and farmers continue to be the backbone of our communities. However, do they really have a secure future? Are they able to provide to their children the resources required to progress in life? To address this, as a part of the key developmental activities in Vijayawada Parliamentary Constituency, Nani took the initiative of making farming profitable by providing huge subsidies on tractors to farmers from all 265 Gram Panchayats of the VPC. This initiative opened new dimensions for the local farmers to transform their agricultural practices in a sustainable and profitable way.
